Latino Enrollment at KU

  • The number of entering KU freshmen in Fall 2008 who identified themselves as Hispanic was 179, up from 145 in Fall 2007.
  • In the fall 2008 semester, the freshman class at KU for the Fall 2008 semester saw a 23.4 percent increase in Latino students.
  • The number of new KU transfer students in Fall 2008 who identified themselves as Hispanic was 61, up from 57 in Fall 2007.
  • From the fall 2007 (n=904) semester to the fall 2008 (n=951) semester, the Hispanic enrollment for the Lawrence/Edwards campuses increased by 5.2%.
  • A record total of 1,049 Latino students were enrolled at KU in Fall 2008.

  • For those students enrolled at KU in the fall 2007 semester, the one-year retention rate is 71.0% (Male Latino students = 60.0%, Female Latino students = 78.8%)
